Concentrating Light

This was a simple and short exercise in directing light.

The image below was lit using a flashgun with no lighting modifiers. We can see that the table has been lit and we’ve got reflections bouncing back under the balls.

To try and prevent the light hitting the table, and reduce the reflection, I wanted to narrow the beam of light from the flash and aim it at the top of the balls. In order to achieve this goal, I made myself a simple snoot out of a cardboard cereal box.


By folding the cereal box into a rectangle, I was able to be more precise with the angle of the light.
